Assigning permissions to users

The different types of permissions and how to assign them to users

There are four different permission levels - Owner, Admin, Manager, and Colleague. Keep in mind that you can be both an Owner and Manager or an Admin and Manager in Simployer One. Only Owners are allowed to set permissions in Simployer One!

To review what the differences are between each level and role, head over to Settings > Permissions

Assigning or changing permission levels

  1. Find the employee you want to change permission for

  1. Mark them with using the checkbox

  1. Select Change role

  1. Choose which permission level they should have

Note that the Manager role is automatically assigned only when a user has another employee listed as a direct report).

Customize manager permissions

For managers, you can set more granular permissions to apply to all managers in your company:

  • Access for their entire subordinate tree (enables Manager permissions on the direct reports of their direct reports)

  • Access to their direct reports' compensation details

  • Create candidates (the manager field is auto-assigned to themselves

  • Initiate e-signing of documents for their candidates

  • Move their candidates to “new hires”

  • Start onboarding for their own hires

The company default settings can be overridden by settings per manager.

NOTE: Only Owners can change a person's permission level. Admins can view permission information.
