How to set up Self certified sick leave in Simployer One
Create a Self certified sick leave policy from scratch or start with the pre-populated Norwegian template.
A Self certified sick leave policy controls how employees report short sickness absences without a medical certificate. Only an Owner or Administrator can create, edit, or delete the policy.
How do I create a Self certified sick leave policy in Simployer One?
- Go to Settings > Time off settings.
- Find Self certified sick leave and click View.
- Click New policy.
- Choose whether to create a custom policy or use a template.
- Complete the policy settings and scope.
- Click Save.
Important
The Self certified sick leave policy is available to employees immediately when it is saved with a scope.
How do I create a custom Self certified sick leave policy?
Choose the custom policy option to start with an empty Self certified sick leave policy. Configure the policy rules that apply to your company.
- Name: Enter the employee-facing name of the policy
- Policy description: Explain when the Self certified sick leave policy should be used and any restrictions
- Minimum time to request: Choose the minimum unit employees can request
- Company visible: Decide whether the time off reason is visible to colleagues
- Requires approval: Choose whether requests require approval and who should approve them
- Allow attachments: Let employees add documents to the request
- Allow grading: Let employees report partial sickness absence
- Include allowance: Show days used and days included in the allowance to the employee and, when applicable, the approver
- Edit time off: Let employees change their own approved or pending requests
- Revoke time off: Let employees withdraw their own approved or pending requests
- Policy scope: Choose which employees can use the policy
What rules are included in the Norwegian Self certified sick leave template?
The pre-populated Norwegian template is configured for:
- Maximum length per occasion: Up to 3 calendar days
- Number of occasions: Up to 4 separate Self certified sick leave periods
- Measurement period: A rolling 12-month period that starts from the first Self certified sick leave occasion
The template provides default settings. An Owner or Administrator can edit the settings before saving the policy.
How does Strict allowance limit work for Self certified sick leave?
- Enabled: The employee cannot request more Self certified sick leave than the available allowance
- Disabled: The employee can submit a request that exceeds the available allowance
How do I scope a Self certified sick leave policy?
Set the scope before saving the Self certified sick leave policy. Choose Everyone at the company or include selected individuals, teams, offices, employment types, departments, or organizations. You can also exclude specific employees.
Note
Scope is inclusive. If you include more than one group, the policy applies to everyone in each included group.
