What is the AI summary in Expert search?

When you search in Expert, you may see a short AI summary at the top of your search results. The AI summary appears in a card directly under the search bar, above the results tabs, labelled Sia generated summary.

The AI summary contains:

  • A short paragraph that answers what you searched for.
  • Three or four one-sentence key points, covering conditions, rates, or exceptions that the paragraph does not already state.

While the AI summary is being written, the card shows a spinner and the text "Generating a summary…".

Note

Your full list of search results in Expert always appears below the AI summary. The AI summary never delays your results, and it never changes what is in your result list or the order the results come in.

What information is the AI summary in Expert search based on?

The AI summary in Expert search is written only from Simployer's own Expert content, and only from content you already have access to. The AI summary uses the same access rules as your Expert search result list, so it can never draw on content you are not entitled to read.

This also means two colleagues at the same organisation can see different AI summaries for the same search in Expert, because each summary reflects that person's own access.

Why don't I see an AI summary in Expert search?

A missing AI summary in Expert search is usually normal. When an AI summary cannot be produced, the summary card is simply absent, and the Expert search page looks and behaves exactly as it always does. Your result list is unaffected either way.

Your search returned no results

If your Expert search returned no results, there is nothing for the AI summary to summarize. If your result list is empty too, check the wording of your search or whether the content you're looking for exists in Expert.

The articles found don't answer your search

The AI summary in Expert search is written strictly from the articles your search found. If those articles don't answer your question, no AI summary is shown, even if your result list isn't empty.

The answer can't be traced back to a specific article

The AI summary in Expert search is shown only when it can be traced back to the specific articles it was built from. If that isn't possible, no AI summary appears. Your result list stays unaffected and complete.

You've searched or filtered too quickly

Each AI summary in Expert search is written fresh, and there is a limit on how many summaries can be produced for one person per minute. Moving quickly through many filter combinations can reach that limit. When it does, the AI summary pauses until the minute has passed, while the rest of the Expert search page keeps working normally. Wait a moment and search again to see the AI summary return.

Does filtering or switching tabs change the AI summary in Expert search?

Applying or clearing a filter in Expert search regenerates the AI summary. Filtering narrows which articles the AI summary is based on, so the AI summary is rewritten to match what you're now looking at.

Switching tabs in Expert search does not change the AI summary. The AI summary answers your search as a whole, not the specific content type you've selected, so it stays the same across tabs.

What language is the AI summary in Expert search written in?

The AI summary in Expert search follows the language of the site you're using: the Norwegian site gives you a Norwegian AI summary, the Swedish site gives you a Swedish AI summary, and the English site gives you an English AI summary. Typing your search in a different language does not change the language of the AI summary. If your site is set to any other language, you get a Norwegian AI summary.

Note

The Sia generated summary label and the "Generating a summary…" loading text are currently always shown in English, regardless of your site's language. Only the AI summary text and its key points follow your site's language.

Can I see which articles the AI summary in Expert search is based on?

The AI summary in Expert search does not link to its sources today. Your Expert search result list is drawn from the same content the AI summary is based on, so that's where to find the article itself.

How much can I rely on the AI summary in Expert search?

Important

Treat the AI summary in Expert search as a quick orientation, not a final answer. For anything you will act on, refer to in a decision, or pass on to someone else, open the article in your Expert search result list instead. That article is the source, and it carries the full detail and the exceptions that the AI summary does not.

Can I turn off the AI summary in Expert search?

There is currently no setting to turn off or hide the AI summary in Expert search, and no way to dismiss the summary card.

Why did I get a different AI summary in Expert search for the same search?

AI summaries in Expert search are kept for a short period and then written again, and any filter you apply changes which articles the AI summary is based on. Small differences in wording between two runs of the same search are normal.

Does Expert search send my data outside Simployer to generate the AI summary?

The AI summary in Expert search is produced only from Simployer's own Expert content, restricted to what you already have access to. Your search wording, the article text, and the AI summaries themselves are not written to Simployer's logs.

How do I report a problem with the AI summary in Expert search?

Contact Simployer if the AI summary in Expert search is absent on a search where your result list clearly answers the question, or if no search at all produces an AI summary for you.

To help us investigate, include:

  • The exact wording you searched for.
  • Which filters you had applied, if any.
  • Roughly when it happened.
  • Whether your result list had results.
  • A screenshot, if you have one.
  • Which site you were on: Norwegian, Swedish, or English.
