Using Sia Briefing to prepare for a conversation

What is Sia Briefing?

Sia Briefing gives you an AI-generated summary of previous conversations with the same person, so you can prepare for — or refresh your memory during — a conversation without reading through old conversations manually.

Both the reviewer and the employee can use Sia Briefing, and each gets a briefing adapted to their role: as a reviewer you get a summary about the employee, while the employee gets a summary of their own earlier reflections, written directly to them.

How do I use Sia Briefing?

  1. Open the conversation you want to prepare for.
  2. Click the Sia Briefing button at the top of the conversation page.
  3. The Sia chat panel opens and automatically asks Sia to summarize key information from previous conversations with that person — no typing needed.

Sia responds with a short, readable summary, and every point taken from a specific conversation includes a link to it, so you can open the source and read the full context. You can continue chatting with Sia in the same panel to dig deeper or ask follow-up questions.

Note: Sia Briefing is available while the conversation is open (before it is closed). It is not shown in closed conversations.

What information does Sia Briefing use?

The briefing is based on previous conversations with the same person that you already have access to, where responses have been shared or the conversation is closed. For each of those conversations, Sia reads the discussion points, both participants' submitted answers, comments, and any submitted peer feedback.

The briefing does not include:

  • The conversation you currently have open.
  • Unsubmitted draft answers.
  • Conversations you don't have access to.

If there are no previous conversations, Sia looks at the latest reviews from the legacy Employee reviews module instead. If there is nothing to summarize at all, Sia simply tells you so.

What is Past answers on this topic?

While Sia Briefing summarizes previous conversations as a whole, Past answers on this topic focuses on a single discussion point. It shows how the same — or a very similar — topic was answered in earlier conversations with the same person, which makes it easy to see development over time.

How do I use Past answers on this topic?

  1. Open the conversation and find the discussion point you are interested in.
  2. Click Past answers on this topic on that discussion point.
  3. The Sia chat panel opens and automatically asks Sia to find previous answers on this or similar topics.

Sia searches the last five conversations with the same person that you have access to (where responses have been shared or the conversation is closed), and presents one block per conversation, most recent first. Each block shows:

  • The conversation title, linked so you can open it.
  • When it took place — the round name, or the date it was last updated.
  • The discussion point question as it was phrased in that conversation.
  • Both participants' answers, along with any submitted peer feedback on that discussion point.

Only close matches are included — the discussion point must have the same title or be clearly about the same topic. Draft answers, comments, unanswered discussion points, and the conversation you currently have open are not included. If no previous answers are found, Sia tells you so.

Can I see anything I don't already have access to?

No. Both Sia Briefing and Past answers on this topic only use conversations you already have access to, and only answers that have been submitted and shared. Sia never reveals the other participant's unsubmitted responses or content from conversations you cannot open yourself.
