How to group and evaluate jobs in Equal Pay

How do I group jobs in an Equal Pay survey?

After completing the Employees step, continue to **Grouping of jobs**. Create groups of employees who perform the same work before continuing to the job evaluation.

Continue through the survey in this order:

  • Grouping of jobs
  • Criteria & questions
  • Job evaluation

What is the difference between equal work and work of equal value?

**Equal work** refers to positions with the same requirements where employees perform the same tasks.

**Work of equal value** refers to different positions that are considered equivalent after an objective assessment.

Assess work of equal value based on:

  • Qualifications required for the position
  • Effort
  • Responsibility
  • Working conditions

Important: Assess the position itself—not the individual employee. Individual performance, personal qualifications and seniority must not be used when deciding whether work is of equal value.

How do I choose the criteria and question template?

In the **Criteria & questions** step, choose the question template that best fits your organisation.

Available templates:

  • 15-question template – Recommended for private companies.
  • 24-question template – Primarily intended for municipalities.

The application explains the intended use of each template when you make your selection.

How do I complete the job evaluation?

Continue to **Job evaluation** and answer the selected questions for each job group. Equal Pay uses the completed evaluation to calculate job scores and support comparisons between equal and equivalent work.

How are equivalent groups identified?

Equal Pay can identify equivalent work groups based on the completed job evaluation.

The system uses the evaluation score together with the configured hit range analysis percentage to identify groups that may represent work of equal value.

From the group details view during the analysis stage you can compare equivalent groups side by side, including their evaluation scores, employee counts and pay information.
