Modified on Wed, 22 Jul at 10:00 AM

Expense types are used to categorize the different types of expenses employees can register in Travel & Expenses. From this page, you can create new expense types, edit existing ones, and configure how they should be used.

Navigate to Expense Types

Go to:

Administration → Travel & Expenses → Expense Types

From this page, you can:

  • Create new expense types

  • Edit existing expense types

  • Link payroll types to expense types

  • Configure settings for each expense type

Create a New Expense Type

  1. Click the + button at the top of the page.

  2. Enter a descriptive name for the expense type.

  3. After the expense type has been created, the settings page opens where you can configure it.

Configure the Expense Type

Expense types can be customized using the available check boxes.

Examples include:

  • Available in the Travel module – makes the expense type available when employees register travel claims.

  • Available in the Expenses module – makes the expense type available for standalone expense claims.

  • Receipt must be uploaded – requires employees to attach a receipt or other supporting documentation before the expense can be submitted.

These settings allow you to control where each expense type is available and help ensure that the required documentation is always provided.

Save Your Changes

When you have finished configuring the expense type, click Save.
