How to set up Cost Centers

Setting up cost centers and assign them to correct departments


NOTE: If you are not going to use Cost Centers then feel free to skip this step.

 

Cost centers are a way of keeping track of what cost is connected to what entity. In Simployer One you can connect cost centers to departments (and the accompanying employees) or to specific employees from the employee's profile.

 

Setting up Cost centers

 

  1. Head over to Settings > Cost centers

  2. Enable the the cost center function, by pressing the toggle: "Enable cost centers"

  3. Information needed:

  • Code - Cost center codes, most commonly 3 or 4 digits.

  • Name - A name connected to each code.

After creating your cost centers then you can assign them to the relevant departments or specific employees.

 

Assigning Cost centers to Departments


  1. Go to People > Departments and click on the department you want to assign a cost center to.

  2. Click on Cost center and choose one from the drop-down list.

  3. Press Save and repeat with all the departments rest until you are done.

 

Assigning Cost centers to specific employee 



  1. Go to People > Employees and select the employee you want to assign or edit a cost center on.

  2. Navigate to the Work section and click edit. Then choose the cost center you wish the employee to be assigned to.

  3. Press Save and repeat with all the employees until you are done.

 

Bulk assigning or scheduling assignment of cost centers

 


  1. Go to People > Employees and select the employees you want to change cost center on.

  2. Select Action and then "Change cost center" from the dropdown.

  3. You can then choose the cost center for the selected employees as well as when you want this change to take effect.

  4. Press Save.
