How to track KPIs in Employee Surveys

Modified on Wed, 26 Aug at 10:52 PM

Use the KPIs tab in Employee Surveys when you want to follow aggregated survey scores over time. A KPI combines selected numerical questions from a pulse into one score, so you can track a broader result instead of reviewing each question separately.

What is a KPI in Employee Surveys?

A KPI, or Key Performance Indicator, is an aggregated score that helps you follow development over time in Employee Surveys. You can use KPIs to measure employee engagement and other survey themes based on selected numerical questions in a pulse.

The KPI score is calculated as the average value of all questions included in the KPI. Most KPI scores in Employee Surveys are shown on a scale from 0 to 100. The eNPS question is shown on a scale from -100 to +100.

Which questions can be included in a KPI in Employee Surveys?

Only numerical questions can be included in a KPI in Employee Surveys.

Questions that do not generate an average value cannot be included in a KPI. For example, free text questions cannot be included because they do not create a numerical average.

How are KPIs created in Employee Surveys?

You can use KPIs based on Employee Surveys standard pulses or create KPIs based on your own pulses.

If you use one of the Employee Surveys standard pulses, the KPI is activated automatically.

If you create your own pulses, you decide whether to activate a KPI. If you activate a KPI, you choose which numerical questions should be included. Only numerical questions can be included in the KPI.

How do I view and track KPI results over time in Employee Surveys?

Use the KPIs tab in Employee Surveys to compare aggregated KPI scores across measurement periods for the group you select.

  1. Go to Employee Surveys > Results.
  2. Select the KPIs tab.
  3. Under View results for, select the group whose KPI results you want to view.
  4. Use the time filter in the top-right corner and select Last two years, Last year, or Last quarter.

Note: KPIs can also appear in other places, such as on the dashboard, but the dashboard does not let you track KPI development over time.

How do I see which questions make up a KPI in Employee Surveys?

On the KPIs tab, under each KPI, use Show/hide question results that make up this KPI to display the questions included in the KPI. This option is available on the KPIs tab and is not available when KPIs are shown in other places, such as on the dashboard.

How do I export KPI results from Employee Surveys?

You can export KPI results as a CSV file by going to Employee Surveys > Results > then select the KPIs tab. Under View results for, choose the group you want to view KPI results for before exporting. KPI results shown on the dashboard cannot be exported from the dashboard.

The CSV export uses the KPI results available on the KPIs tab for the group selected under View results for and the time period you selected.

Who can view KPI results in Employee Surveys?

Administrators in Employee Surveys can view KPI results for all groups in the account.

Managers in Employee Surveys can view KPIs for groups they have access to when the scheduling Results visibility settings give them access to results.
