How do I manage Administrator permissions in Simployer

Modified on Tue, 8 Sep at 8:17 PM

Administrators can perform most of the same tasks as Owners, but Simployer One limits access to certain sensitive areas.

Under Settings > Permissions > Administrator, you can configure additional Administrator permissions for Profile Documents and custom fields.

You can change the default settings for Administrators or configure an individual Administrator separately. The Arcade walkthrough shows both options in the Administrator list.

How do I change the default permissions for Administrators?

  1. Go to Settings > Permissions.
  2. Expand Administrator.
  3. Select Edit default permissions.
  4. Configure the available Administrator permissions.
  5. Save your changes.

The default settings apply to Administrators across the workspace unless an individual Administrator has a different configuration.

Which default Administrator permissions can I configure?

You can configure:

  • Access to Profile Documents
  • Manage custom fields

What does Access to Profile Documents allow Administrators to do?

Access to Profile Documents controls whether Administrators can access Profile Documents for employees.

By default, Administrators have access to view and manage Profile Documents for all employees.

Important: Profile Documents may contain salary information or other sensitive employee information even though Administrators do not otherwise have access to employee compensation by default.

Decide how your organization wants to manage Profile Documents before you begin uploading employee documents.

If Administrators should not have organization-wide Profile Document access, turn this permission off as early as possible when configuring Simployer One.

Important: Turning the setting off only affects documents from the point when the setting is disabled. According to the updated Arcade source, the change does not affect documents that were already uploaded.

What does Manage custom fields allow Administrators to do?

Manage custom fields allows Administrators to create, edit, and archive custom fields.

How do I change permissions for one Administrator?

Use individual Administrator permissions when one Administrator needs different access from the Administrator default.

  1. Go to Settings > Permissions.
  2. Expand Administrator.
  3. Find the Administrator you want to configure.
  4. Select Edit permissions next to their name.
  5. Configure the available permissions.
  6. Save your changes.

Individual Administrator settings can differ from the workspace-wide Administrator defaults.
