Learn how sick absence days and possible work days determine the sick absence percentage.
How is the sick absence percentage calculated in reports?
Sick absence percentage = Number of sick absence days ÷ Possible work days.
Example: 3 sick absence days out of 12 possible work days = 3 ÷ 12 = 25%.
What are possible work days in sick absence reports?
Possible work days, also called possible man labour days, are the number of days in a period when a person could have worked. Possible work days are the denominator in the sick absence percentage calculation.
Rules for calculating possible work days in sick absence reports
| # | Rule | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Non-working days, such as public holidays and weekends, are excluded from possible work days | For an organization with no weekend work: 19 possible work days in a month with 19 working days |
| 2 | Vacation days are excluded from possible work days | One week of vacation (4 days) gives 19 − 4 = 15 possible work days |
| 3 | Working days are multiplied by the employment percentage | 50% employment: 19 × 0.5 = 9.5 possible work days |
| 4 | Working days are calculated only for the period when the employment is active | Employment starting on May 14th gives 12 possible work days. Employment ending on May 18th gives 11 possible work days |
| 5 | A change in employment percentage during the period affects the number of possible work days | 50% through May 27th (15 days × 0.5 = 7.5) + 100% from May 28th (4 days) = 11.5 possible work days |
| 6 | Working days after the maximum date registered for the sick absence, when the person has been sick for more than 52 weeks, are not counted as sick absence days | — |
| 7 | Absence registered in the leave module can affect the sick absence statistics | The customer can define absence types that reduce the number of possible work days for the period |
How do absence types from the leave module affect sick absence reports?
The customer can define absence types in the leave module that affect the sick absence statistics. When one of these absence types is registered, it reduces the number of possible work days for the relevant period.
The customer can also configure the absence type to record the absence percentage for the leave. This percentage is then included when calculating possible work days. If this option is not selected, the absence is treated as 100%.
