For administrators preparing the organization structure before a salary review or salary adjustment.
Open the Compensation organization settings
Go to Menu → Compensation Settings, then click Go to Organization Settings Page. The page lists all departments and their assigned Payroll-Responsible Managers and Approvers.
The organization structure comes from My Company in the Simployer portal. Compensation automatically suggests the current department manager as the Payroll-Responsible Manager.
Assign a Payroll-Responsible Manager to each department in Compensation
Make sure that each department has a Payroll-Responsible Manager. The assigned manager can adjust salaries for their employees during a salary adjustment round.
If the suggested manager is not the correct person, change the Payroll-Responsible Manager for the department:
- Hover over the manager’s name until the Edit button appears, then click it.
- Search for and select the correct person registered in the Simployer portal.
You can assign a different Payroll-Responsible Manager in Compensation without affecting the organization setup elsewhere in the Simployer portal.
Set up Approvers in Compensation
Make sure that the required Approvers are assigned in Compensation. Approvers can approve new salary proposals at the organization level for which they are assigned as an Approver.
Give higher-level managers access to subdepartments in Compensation
By default, higher-level managers cannot see salaries in subdepartments. To give them access, select the relevant checkbox in the Compensation organization settings.
Confirm the Compensation organization settings
Scroll down and click Confirm Settings.
- If Draft appears with a yellow circle in the upper-right corner, the settings are not active. You must scroll down and confirm them.
- Managers can see their employees’ salaries only after you confirm the organization. Managers cannot set or change salary values from this view.
- Employees can see their own salary as soon as salary data has been uploaded to Compensation Basic, regardless of whether the organization has been confirmed.
Update the Compensation organization settings after a manager change
When a department gets a new manager:
- Go to Compensation Settings and check whether the new manager is assigned as the Payroll-Responsible Manager for the correct department.
- Make any necessary changes and save them.
- Check whether Draft appears in the upper-right corner. If it does, confirm the settings again.
