Create and manage teams in Simployer One

How do I create and manage teams in Simployer One? 

Teams allow you to group employees across departments and offices without changing your formal organisational structure. Use teams for projects, product areas, regions, committees, or other cross-functional groups. 

Who can manage teams? 

Only users with the Owner or Admin role can create, edit, and delete teams. 

How do I create a team? 

1. Go to Company → Teams. 
2. Click + New team. 
3. In Step 1 of 2, enter the team Name. 
4. Optionally enter a Description. 
5. Select a Background color for the team tag. 
6. Select a Text color for the team tag. 
7. Review the tag in Preview. 
8. Click Add members. 
9. Select the employees you want to include. 
10. Complete the team creation. 

Only existing employees can be added during team creation. If a new employee joins later, assign them to the team from their employee profile when available. 

How do I edit a team? 

On the Teams page, click the pencil icon next to the team. You can update the team's information, colours, and membership. 

How do teams work? 

Teams are flexible employee groups and do not create reporting lines or organisational hierarchy. 

An employee can belong to multiple teams at the same time. 

Teams cannot contain sub-teams. 

How do I delete a team? 

Unlike departments and offices, teams can be deleted even when they contain members. 

1. Go to Company → Teams. 
2. Select the team you want to delete. 
3. Click Delete. 
4. Confirm the deletion.

Deleting a team removes the team itself. It does not delete employee profiles or affect employees' departments, offices, or managers. 

FAQs 

Can an employee belong to more than one team? 

Yes. Teams are designed for overlapping membership, so an employee can belong to multiple teams. 

Can teams contain sub-teams?

No. Teams always use a flat structure. 

Do teams affect reporting lines or the organisation chart?

No. Teams do not affect reporting lines. The organisation chart is built from each employee's Manager assignment. 

Can I delete a team that still contains employees?

Yes. Teams can be deleted even when they still have members.
