Available absence widgets
Analytics offers three absence widgets: the Absence % widget, the Absence Days widget, and the Absence Hours widget. Each measures absence differently — as a percentage, in days, or in hours — so you can choose the one that fits how you want to report on absence.
How the Absence % widget works
The Absence % widget displays absence as a percentage of scheduled work time. It calculates the total absence leave time for the selected period and divides it by the defined work week hours for that period, minus bank holidays.
Formula: Absence % = Absence leave time ÷ (Defined work week hours − bank holidays), for the selected period.
How the Absence Days widget works
The Absence Days widget displays absence measured in days. It calculates absence leave time per day and divides it by the hours defined for that day in the work week settings.
Formula: Absence days (per day) = Absence leave time for that day ÷ Hours defined for that day in work week settings.
Example 1: If work week settings define 8 hours for a day, and the employee is absent for 6 hours that day, the absence in days is 0.75.
Example 2: If work week settings define 8 hours for Monday–Friday (8:00–12:00, 13:00–17:00), and the employee is absent from Monday until 12:00 that day, the absence in days is 4.5.
How the Absence Hours widget works
The Absence Hours widget displays the total absence time in hours for the selected period.
Example 1: An employee's work week settings define 8:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00 on a Friday. If the employee is absent from 14:00–17:00, the absence hours is 3.
Example 2: An employee's work week settings define 8:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00, Monday–Friday. If the employee is absent from 08:00 Monday until 12:00 Friday, the absence hours is 36.
Configuration options for all absence widgets
The Absence %, Absence Days, and Absence Hours widgets all share the same configuration options:
- Name – the name displayed on the widget.
- Date range – the period the widget shows data for.
- Group by category – the category used to group the data (defaults to all employees).
- Select category items – choose whether to show all category options or only specific ones. For example, if you group by department, you can limit the widget to show only the Frames, Wheels & Bike Service department.
- Filter – apply additional filters to the data. For example, you can combine a department grouping with a filter for permanent employees only.
- Additional filter – choose which types of leave to include in the widget.
- Chart type – choose between a line chart or a bar chart.
